Artist of the Month - June 2025
Back
This poignant painting has been recently completed by Agata Piatek.
It is all about remembrance. In it her cousin is walking, with his dog, over a bridge into a brightly coloured forest. The work has been greatly inspired by the Fauvist artists Derain and Vlaminck, who were described, at the time, as ‘wild beasts’ because of their unconventional use of bright colours. In the foreground Agata’s grandmother sits in quiet contemplation, looking at the viewer. It is a painting that has many different interpretations and which can be enjoyed on many different levels.
Agata says:
“My final piece reflects faith and how much of an impact death can have over family and friends.”
